A campaign built on lies and slander.
This is what happens when candidates who cannot run on their merit, achievements, involvement or even a semblance of familiarity with their electorate decide to run for office. This is the essence of the disgraceful and disrespectful campaign Calvin Tesler and his running mates have decided to run. They have no real policy positions, but offer instead lies and slander against good people who VOLUNTEER their time to make Margate a better place.
Politics hits a new low in Margate
There has never been a political campaign run in Margate that has hit the lows that the Tesler team has hit in 2023. Low class, short sighted political mailers with insulting headlines, low-brow cartoons and outright lies spearheaded by Calvin Tesler and his cronies. When you are a candidate like Calvin Tesler, who lacks any merit to run on, you are forced to hit below the belt.
Tesler wants a Planning Board that can’t read a blueprint.
In the unending lies and slander put forth by Calvin Tesler, he and his unqualified crew have accused the planning board of profiting from their positions and have suggested that the planning board should not have anyone with building experience. How much sense does it make for a board that approves or denies BUILDING PLANS, to not have someone in the building trade among its ranks? These are the complaints of people who have no experience in these matters, and are attempting to appeal to the lowest common denominator of political discourse: personal attacks.
According to Tesler’s position, the planning board should be trying to limit the size of homes being built based on their own whims about what the homes should look like in Margate. In contrast, our current, competent planning board realizes that the rules set forth in Margate’s Master Plan and the state and federal guidelines regarding flood height are what dictate what can and cannot be built in Margate.
Imagine choosing a town to live in because you love it so much, and then deciding it needs to change right after you move in.
I travel to a family vacation home in a wonderful town in the mountains several times a year. I have some far fetched ideas about moving there full time, but the time is not right and I still like Margate too much to leave. I could not fathom the audacity and hubris it would take for me to decide to move there full time, and then tell all of the people who have spent years, decades and even generations in the same town, “I just moved here, but you guys are doing this all wrong and I know better than you.” Then, to raise the stakes a little more, I would have to disparage all the the people who have lived and worked there for generations, just to get enough eyes looking at me to think I have a chance at winning an election. This is the unscrupulous nature of Calvin Tesler and his lying political team.
Lack of ideas leads Calvin Tesler to more lies, and old news.
In one of Calvin Teslers earlier lies in the campaign, he uses a photoshopped picture of Commissioner Blumberg accompanied by a slanderous headline stating that Maury Blumberg is somehow responsible for the prescription drug scandal that plagued Margate City OVER 5 YEARS AGO! This story has been told and retold over the last 5 years, and the people accused have been or are being tried and convicted, and this matter is long settled. In addition, a quick and easy google search will lead an educated voter to the fact that State Health benefit plans are not administered or overseen by municipal leaders, but by The Office of the State Comptroller. Does this truth matter to Calvin Tesler and his unscrupulous running mates? Of course not.
